On Sunday afternoon Couchsurfing was notified of an error on the website and we released a fix within 3 hours. This error intermittently exposed coded location related information in some URLs on the website. While this only impacted a small minority of users, we are nonetheless taking additional measures with help from a third party security firm to ensure this issue is fully resolved. We will notify members that were potentially impacted with further detail.
Couchsurfing respects and champions individual data privacy rights. We are proud to extend large portions of the Global Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) to all members, not just those located in the European Union.
