Working with the local officials, the Couchsurfing community in Acapulco hosted a New Year’s Eve CouchCrash. Given the challenges of the pandemic, the local authorities recommended that the community host all activities in open, ventilated spaces and they provided alcohol gel and masks for use by attendees. Additionally, the organizers limited attendees and respected the 30% capacity limit of any place and sanitized the places throughout the event. After the event, attendees self monitored and there were no reports of COVID infection.
