Remembering Dahlia

We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic and untimely death of Dahlia Yehia, an American Couchsurfer who went missing last month while traveling in Nepal. On behalf of the entire Couchsurfing community, we extend our sympathies and condolences to Dahlia’s family and friends for their unthinkable loss.

By all accounts, Dahlia was a compassionate and caring global citizen committed to helping others. A beloved art teacher in Austin, Texas, Dahlia is said to have volunteered to travel to Nepal to support humanitarian efforts in the aftermath of last April’s devastating earthquake. As her family so eloquently noted, Dahlia was “a giver, lover, and humanitarian, who devoted her life to others less fortunate both domestic and abroad.” She was truly a role model for all of us.

We believe people everywhere, and women in particular, have the right to explore the world safely. We will continue to work tirelessly toward that end.
